The iOS 26 update has been revealed to the public amidst a lot of fanfare. Said to be the biggest iOS revamp since iOS 7, the focus on the new operating system revolves around design – Apple proudly calls it the Liquid Glass theme. The design theme keeps the core elements of the operating system intact for familiarity, all while revamping the appearance of UI with glass-like effects complemented by beautiful animations. The new design theme, which will be available on iPhone 11 and newer models, is expected to draw more people to the Apple ecosystem than before.
Soon after Apple released the Developer Beta iOS 26, developers and enthusiasts downloaded the update. While the Liquid Glass design theme got praises, many were disappointed with the new glass aesthetics. Some complained about the legibility factor on notification cards on the lockscreen, while others pointed out at messy aesthetic vibes.
Microsoft Windows subtly trolls Apple
The official account of Windows on X dropped a subtle dig at the new Liquid Glass aesthetics in iOS 26, macOS 26 and all other Apple ecosystem software. The not-so-cryptic post on X hints at Microsoft acing the digital glass aesthetics back in the days with Windows Vista and mastering it with Windows 7.

MKBHD too trolled Apple
Renowned YouTube tech content creator Marques Brownlee, who also goes by MKBHD, complained about the new Liquid Glass aesthetics on iOS 26. Referring to the legibility on the notification cards on the lockscreen, he wrote, “I am a bit concerned with readability”. This issue was also flagged by others who downloaded the developer beta on their iPhones.
