Apple is gearing up to release its latest software update, iOS 18.2, for iPhones, with a rollout anticipated in the first week of December. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his recent Power On newsletter, this update promises to deliver an array of innovative features designed specifically for the iPhone 15 Pro series and the iPhone 16 models.
Among the standout features is Genmoji, which allows users to create personalised emojis, enhancing the way people express themselves in digital conversations. Additionally, Image Playground will enable users to generate cartoon-like images, while the Image Wand feature will convert simple sketches into fully realised images within the Notes app.
A significant enhancement in this update is the integration of ChatGPT into Siri. This upgrade will empower Apple’s virtual assistant with improved capabilities, making it more responsive and versatile. Furthermore, Apple is expanding its Apple Intelligence features beyond US in countries like the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. This move addresses a common frustration among Indian users who previously had to adjust their language settings to access these features. Beyond these highlights, iOS 18.2 will introduce a new Default Apps section in the Settings menu, allowing users to manage their default apps more easily.
As for the release date, Gurman anticipates that iOS 18.2 could go live as early as December 2, marking a shift towards an earlier launch compared to previous updates, such as iOS 17.2 and iOS 16.2, which debuted in mid-December.
