After announcing the launch of iOS 18.2 and other updates along with Apple intelligence, the tech giant brings another update. According to an official blog, Apple is also upgrading its Voice Memos app in iOS 18.2.
On December 12, Apple announced that it will be bringing an update to its existing Voice Memos app. Let’s have a look at what the update has in store for you.
Apple updates Voice Memos app
According to this announcement, both iPhone Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro users will be able to layer a vocal track on top of an existing instrumental recording using the Voice Memos app. You don’t even need to use headphones. Instead, you will be able to record your instruments using the iPhone’s speaker. Brownie point! You can simultaneously record your vocals with microphones on the 16 Pro Max and 16 Pro.
With Apple’s new iOS 18.2 and Apple’s A18 Pro chip, Voice Memos will be able to use machine learning to enable the new feature. The app can also create two individual tracks, which can then be further mixed and processed. These processes can be executed in professional apps such as Logic Pro. The first layer can include a variety of background instrumentals. Such as musical instruments, piano or acoustic guitar.
Is your device eligible for the update
These “Layered Recordings,” as they’re called, are also synced from Voice Memos on Mac across devices, Apple claimed. So, which are the devices that will be eligible for the update? The Voice Memos app upgrade is launching on the devices mentioned below:
- iPhone 16 Pro
- iPhone 16 Pro Max for users running iOS 18.2.
Additionally, sharing to Voice Memos and importing a Layered Recording is also available on the following device:
- Logic Pro for Mac 11.1 with macOS Sequoia 15.2
- Logic Pro for iPad 2.1 with iPadOS 18.2.
