Apple event: What to expect—the TL;DR version
The showstopper of the event will be the new iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The glowtime reference is a dead giveaway that Apple Intelligence and an AI-supercharged Siri will be one of their big headlining features. They will be the first iPhones built from ground up for artificial intelligence. Rumour has it that the A18 chip inside them is built around Arm’s V9 architecture previously seen inside the M4 silicon seen inside the iPad Pro and soon to power a new wave of Mac computers.
While hardware changes are expected to be mostly incremental, we can expect the iPhone 16 Pro models to get improved cameras and a new capacitive capture button to shoot photos and videos on the fly. They are also tipped to get bigger screens. The vanilla iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are said to come with 8GB of RAM by default and boast of several Pro iPhone features including the Action button.
The iPhone 16 series will be joined by the Apple Watch Series 10 with a bigger display and a lighter chassis. The Apple Watch Ultra 2024 update is also expected to tag along. Apple is reportedly also looking to refresh the AirPods line-up with a new fourth-gen model with high-end features like ANC and a built-in speaker for more granular Find My tracking.
