How much will the new iPhones cost? As Apple prepares the stage for unveiling its brand new iPhone 17 series, Apple Watch Series 11 models and other products, the entire tech fraternity has been concerned about the price tags on the iPhone 17 variants. In the US, Apple has consistently retained the price of the iPhone over the past few years, with the base model always starting at $799 and the Pro starting at $999. This year, however, Apple could be bumping the prices.
That said, the domino effect of the iPhone 17’s price hike in the US isn’t likely to affect all the models and price tiers in India. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are expected to get dearer by tens of thousands of Rupees. The vanilla iPhone 17 is expected to retain the same starting price as its predecessor.
The new iPhone 17 Air, which is said to replace the Plus variant, is expected to come with a price tag higher than what the iPhone 16 Plus used to cost.
iPhone 17 price in India, US
The leaks have so far suggested that Apple will maintain the entry-level pricing for the base iPhone 17, with a starting cost of around Rs 79,990 in India and $799 in the US. Note that these starting prices stand true for the 128GB model. The standard model is rumoured to receive big upgrades, including a larger 6.3-inch display and the inclusion of a 120Hz high refresh rate display — a feature previously reserved for the Pro models.
The standard iPhone 17 is also expected to sport a sharper 24MP front-facing camera and be powered by the new Apple A19 processor.
iPhone 17 Air price in India and US
The most radical addition to the family is the iPhone 17 Air, which is poised to replace the Plus model. This ultra-thin variant of the iPhone 17 will measure just 5.5mm in thickness, which reduces the camera system to a single 48MP sensor on the back – a compromise made for the slim chassis.
The iPhone 17 Air is projected to be priced at around Rs 99,000 in India and $1,099 in the US, considering the base spec will offer a 256GB variant. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to boast a 6.6-inch display, a single 48MP rear camera, and Apple‘s new in-house C1 modem.
iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max,
For the high-end market, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are where the most notable changes and price increases are expected. The iPhone 17 Pro is tipped to start at around Rs 1,34,999 in India and $1,199 for the US, while the top-of-the-line Pro Max could begin at approximately Rs 1,64,999 ($1,299).
Both models are rumoured to feature a redesigned horizontal camera bar, a new 48MP telephoto lens with 8x optical zoom, and 8K video recording. Other anticipated upgrades include vapour chamber cooling for enhanced thermal performance and the introduction of a Wi-Fi 7 chip.
