There are two good news: First, Apple has finally acknowledged the overheating issues with iPhone 15 and 15 Pro models. Second, it has nothing to do with hardware, said Apple. Notably, it will be addressed via a future software update.
“We have also found a bug in iOS 17 that is impacting some users and will be addressed in a software update. Another issue involves some recent updates to third-party apps that are causing them to overload the system. We’re working with these app developers on fixes that are in the process of rolling out,” Apple told Forbes.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously pointed out that the overheating issue on iPhone 15 Pro models is likely due to—in his own words—”compromises made in the thermal system design.” However, he also added that the first-of-its-kind 3nm node used for Apple’s latest and most powerful yet Apple A17 Pro chipset has nothing to do with this. However, Apple just mentions software bugs.
Moreover, previously, a report by Bloomberg cited an unnamed Apple spokesperson mentioning that apps like Meta’s Instagram, Uber, and Asphalt could likely cause the devices to “run warmer than normal.”

Quite contrary to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s report who says the main issue lies due to “compromises made in the thermal system design,” Apple declines this and says that it could be due to other factors like using more-than-20W charging docks and more.
