As the year comes to an end and is prepping for a change, Amazon will also bring some changes for its users. To be specific it has changed the rules for its Prime membership terms in India. As per the new rules, the number of TVs that you can stream content simultaneously under a single account on Amazon prime has been revised. Now it has been reduced to two accounts only.
According to the Amazon help page, the changes will come into effect starting from January 1, 2025.
What’s new
The changes were announced to a mail circulated to every Amazon Prime user by the company. According to the email, the Prime members will be able to access Prime Video on up to five devices including two TVs from January 2025. For example, if you want to watch Prime Video on more than two TVs on a single account then you will have to purchase a separate subscription.
The new message was sent through email to existing Prime users in India. Here’s what it highlighted,“Starting January 2025, we are updating our usage terms in India to include up to two TVs as part of your five devices entitlement. You can manage your devices on your Settings page or buy another Prime membership to watch Prime Video on more devices.”
Also, Prime members can stream on up to five devices with no restrictions on the type of device. Now, you can manage your registered devices on the Prime Video settings page. As of now, the annual Amazon Prime pack is priced at Rs Rs 1,499.
Other major updates
For many years till now Amazon offered support for up to five devices , without putting a limit on the type of devices you stream content from your account. However, the new change coming in 2025 will limit it to only 2 TVs. The rest devices could be tablet , mobile and even laptop using the web version.
Furthermore, “As part of your Prime membership, you and your household are entitled to enjoy Prime Video on up to five devices,” the mail concluded.
