Ahead of its highly anticipated Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025, Apple is reportedly preparing a series of notable updates for its ecosystem of operating systems, with iOS 26 leading the charge.
Based on information from 9To5Mac, Apple is mainly focusing on a visual refresh rather than a feature-added upgrade. Some of the native first-party apps will get a bunch of new features, including the CarPlay interface. There are also likely to be some new additions to Apple Intelligence suite of features but none of them are expected to be consequential.
Let’s take a look at some of the biggest announcements expected to come at the WWDC 2025:
Messages
A major convenience upgrade is rumoured for the Messages app, with the integration of automatic message translation. This could revolutionise cross-cultural communication for iPhone users. Additionally, the ability to create polls directly within Messages is expected, streamlining group decisions and social planning.
Music
Apple Music is set to receive a more immersive visual experience on the lock screen. A new full-screen animated lock screen artwork feature will allow album art to take center stage, adding a dynamic touch to music playback.
Notes
For those who value structured text and cross-platform compatibility, the Notes app is reportedly gaining the long-awaited ability to export notes in Markdown format. This move caters to a growing segment of users who prefer this versatile plain-text markup language.
CarPlay
Beyond individual apps, Apple’s automotive interface, CarPlay, is slated for a comprehensive user interface overhaul. This redesign is expected to align CarPlay’s visual language with the new aesthetic direction of iOS 26, promising a more modern and cohesive experience behind the wheel.
