Airtel gathered headlines a month ago for partnering with Aravind Srinivas’ Perplexity AI to offer a year’s free subscription to Perplexity Pro. The offer not only pushed Perplexity’s ranking up on the Apple App Store but also gave many a reason to switch to Airtel’s network. In a bid to make its prepaid service more tempting to consumers, Airtel now brings another freebie for its subscribers by partnering with Apple Music.
Bharti Airtel is expanding its digital freebies in India by providing a complimentary subscription to Apple Music for its prepaid customers. The freebie, which was quietly rolled out and discovered by some users on the Airtel Thanks app, marks a notable expansion of a previous partnership with Apple that limited the same offer to postpaid and broadband users.
Airtel offers free Apple Music
The new offer provides eligible prepaid customers with six months of free access to Apple’s music streaming service. Following the trial period, the subscription will automatically renew at a monthly charge of Rs 119.
For those in the unknown, Apple Music is a music streaming service providing unlimited, ad-free access to a library of over 100 million songs. A key feature of Apple Music is its library of high-fidelity audio, offering both Lossless Audio and immersive Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos at no extra cost. This allows users to experience music in clarity and a three-dimensional soundscape on compatible devices and gear. The service also stands out for its human-curated content, featuring a wide array of expert-curated playlists, exclusive artist interviews, and live concerts. Additionally, it offers several live radio stations, including Apple Music 1, Apple Music Hits, and Apple Music Country, which broadcast 24/7.
Other notable features include Apple Music Sing, which provides real-time, beat-by-beat lyrics and adjustable vocals for a karaoke-like experience, and the ability for users to collaborate on shared playlists with friends. Apple Music integrates seamlessly across Apple’s ecosystem and is also available on a wide range of other devices, including Android, Windows, and gaming consoles.
Note that Airtel has not specified the criteria for eligibility yet. The benefit was initially observed on a non-unlimited 5G plan, suggesting that it may not be restricted to high-value recharge plans. Many consumers haven’t seen the offer banner within the Airtel app yet, in which case, they should keep an eye out for updates.
Airtel bundles more freebies than ever
By adding subscription to Apple Music, Airtel is bundling premium content and digital services with its telecom packages to attract more consumers. In recent times, the company has introduced various recharge packs that include subscriptions to over 25 different over-the-top (OTT) platforms, such as Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, Sony LIV and more. Additionally, Airtel has partnered with Perplexity AI to provide access to its premium Perplexity Pro plan, venturing beyond entertainment into productivity services.
