In the name of standing out, Nothing has proved that it loves to ‘take inspiration’ from Apple. Be it the smartphones or the accessories, the small British upstart brand, led by ex-OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, has always considered Apple as its sole competition and didn’t shy away from copying its philosophies. Hence, when it comes to retail business, Nothing now wants to follow the footsteps of Apple – by opening a flagship store.
For those in the unknown, Nothing has so far operated as an online-only entity in the retail space, relying heavily on its partnership with Flipkart. However, as the brand now needs to expand more within the country, it plans to have more physical presence with its stores. Since Apple used to operate on that model up until recently, with physical stores popping up only two years ago in India, Nothing seems to be following the same route.
Nothing flagship store planned for India
The announcement, which was made by co-founder Akis Evangelidis, confirms Nothing’s commitment to the country. The Nothing flagship store is expected to emulate premium retail experiences similar to those of global giants like Apple and Samsung. The store will serve as a dedicated space for consumers to interact with Nothing’s entire product lineup, which includes its signature transparent-design smartphones such as the recently launched Phone (3), along with audio devices, wearables, and accessories from its sub-brand CMF by Nothing.
While specific details on the store’s location remain undisclosed, industry speculation suggests that Nothing may start off with major metropolitan areas like Mumbai or Bengaluru, considering their presence of tech-savvy consumers and retail footfall.
The store is anticipated to feature interactive demos, customisation options, and exclusive launches.
Nothing co-founder confirms ‘Make in India’ plan
Evangelidis shared the news in a post on X following a high-profile meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at The Economic Times World Leaders Forum 2025. In his statement, Evangelidis said that Nothing’s Phone (3) is not only produced locally but also exported worldwide, thus promoting the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
“At Nothing and CMF, we are fully committed to this journey. Phone (3) is not only manufactured in India but now also exported – a testament to India’s ability to deliver world-class technology. This is not just about making in India, but about building from India to the world. With CMF, we are also in the process of establishing our global headquarters here, strengthening our leadership team with local talent, and anchoring our operations in the place where we see the strongest momentum,” wrote the co-founder.
