Acer India is set to expand its retail footprint significantly by opening 100 new stores across 100 cities in FY25, Harish Kohli, managing director of Acer India, told FE. “We have a partner based out of Gujarat who wants to sign with us 100 Acer stores in 100 different cities, and that’s happening today (Thursday),” Kohli said on the sidelines of the company’s consumer brand launch in Bengaluru.
Acer announced the launch of its Acerpure Consumer Electronics brand, which includes a range of products such as televisions, water purifiers, air circulator fans, vacuum cleaners, personal care products and more.
All Acerpure products will be manufactured in India, in collaboration with Dixon Technologies, the company said. Acer India also plans to start exporting these products in the coming years.
Kohli said that the first milestone would be achieving $100 million in business from the Acerpure side. “We aim to reach this goal within 12 months, depending on the availability of products for our sales team to sell.”
In response to how this expansion could aid Acer’s growth in India and help the company gain market share, Kohli said “With 7.3 million assets under warranty or after-sales support, we have a strong base of consumers who recognise the Acer brand. This expansion is yet another opportunity for them to engage with the brand, and their satisfaction will lead to more purchases.”
Regarding the PC market, which remains a major part of Acer’s revenue, Kohli expressed optimism. “The last two years have seen a negative growth in the total addressable market (TAM), but we were the only company growing. We moved to the number three position from number four, indicating that we are capturing market share from competitors. Our growth was approximately 17%, compared to the market’s growth of 2.5%.”
