Have you relocated to a new city or recently changed your residence? Make sure to update your new address in your Aadhaar. If you have a valid address proof or have received an Address Validation Letter (for those without standard address documents), you are eligible to update your address. Starting November 2025, several details on your Aadhaar card—including mobile number, address, name, and date of birth—can be updated online. You will no longer be required to visit an Aadhaar center for many of these changes, making the update process more convenient and accessible.
This shift will minimize the reliance on physical documents and remove the inconvenience of visiting Aadhaar centres for most changes. As services move online, updating Aadhaar will become quicker, more secure, and easier to use—offering significant convenience to millions of people throughout India.
UIDAI will automatically verify your details through existing government databases such as PAN, passport, and ration card, eliminating the need to upload documents repeatedly. Even utility bills like electricity bills can now be used to confirm your address, streamlining the update process significantly.
UIDAI is likely to roll out a new mobile application soon, featuring a QR code-enabled digital Aadhaar. With this update, there’s no need to submit physical photocopies of your Aadhaar card anymore. Instead, users can share a secure digital or masked version whenever needed. This initiative aims to curb fraud and minimize the circulation of counterfeit Aadhaar cards.
If you need to update only your address, UIDAI is currently providing this service at no charge via the myAadhaar portal until June 14, 2026. Make sure your mobile number is linked to your Aadhaar to complete the update using OTP (One-Time Password) authentication.
If your number isn’t linked yet, it’s highly advisable to get it done soon to take full advantage of the upcoming digital services.
