YRF’s spy universe debuted with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s “Ek Tha Tiger” in 2012, and has since burgeoned significantly over the past decade. Continuing the saga in YRF’s spy universe, “War 2” will delve deeper into the exploits of Hrithik Roshan’s enigmatic character, Major Kabir Dhaliwal, as he embarks on a fresh mission. Renowned filmmaker Ayan Mukerji steps into the director’s chair, taking the helm from Siddharth Anand, who helmed the inaugural installment. Notably, the film will introduce Jr. NTR, a prominent Telugu film star, in a pivotal role, marking his much-anticipated debut in Hindi cinema. Additionally, Kiara Advani joins the ranks of the YRF spy universe under the direction of Ayan Mukerji.
As per a Times of India report, Hrithik Roshan has commenced filming for the movie and is anticipated to conclude shooting by June 2024. Jr. NTR has reportedly allocated approximately 60 days for his role in the YRF project, according to the same report. While the initial installment of Roshan’s spy thriller franchise carried a budget of Rs 170 crore, War 2 is projected to boast a budget of around Rs 200 crore, as per another Times of India report.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 features Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR, and Kiara Advani in prominent roles and is slated for a theatrical release in August 2025. Additionally, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan are rumored to make cameo appearances in War 2, as indicated by a News18 report. Moreover, the YRF team purportedly intends to strategically incorporate the character Tiger into pivotal moments within the spy universe.
