That feeling is surreal when you buy your first house. It’s a dream come true for many and this is exactly how actor-producer Neil Nitin Mukesh felt when he bought his first house. Located in Andheri West, Mumbai the New York actor recently gave a house tour of his ‘work home’ where he explained everything – from how and why he bought this house to how he carefully designed the interiors of his 2BHK which just defines luxury at its best.
In an interaction with Pinkvilla, the actor reveals that this house reflects his deep spiritual beliefs, his love for art and a dream that began with his mother.
A spiritual entrance with a purpose
As you enter the house, a Ganesh murti with idols of Hanuman ji and Ma Saraswati welcome visitors. They have been placed at the entrance as per Vaastu. Behind the idols, the wall has flowing water. “I believe that your vibrations start from the entrance of the house,” Neil said during the interview with Pinkvilla. Calling water ‘auspicious’, he shared that being a Shiv bhakt he wanted a water element indoors for positive energy and balance.
A home born from his mother’s dream
Neil described the home as the first chapter of his independent journey. “This is my work home now. My production house, NNM Films, is very near from this house,” he shared. He also revealed that he convinced his father by saying he wasn’t leaving their family home, but building another space for all of them.
He added that the idea of this home was first seen by his mother much before he bought the property. “This dream was seen by my mother before me,” Neil recalled.
How the interiors came to life
Though Neil originally bought the house to turn it into a bachelor pad. But on the day of the ‘griha pravesh’, he also got rokafied to his now wife, Rukmini. Later, the couple spent special time here during the COVID-19 lockdown with their daughter Nurvi.
During the interaction with Pinkvilla, he revealed that the house has concrete finishes, brick walls, and battlet onyx with no paint on the walls. Neil explained that since the property is close to the sea, the decision was made to avoid dampness and maintain durability.
The house shows his love for art, and aesthetics
Every corner of the house reflects Neil’s artistic eye. The living room has been designed by Pinakin. Two contemporary artworks by Neil’s friend Niyati Kanakia also stand out, one of which is created entirely from magazine paper. Calling it his favourite, Neil said the piece carries personal meaning.
Another ‘wow element’ in Neil’s work home is the African Tiger Onyx wall which was installed by Elegant Marble. “This direction was coming as Agni, so I got the idea to clad that wall,” he explained.
Bedrooms with a hotel-like feel
The master bedroom is designed with a soft, hotel-inspired aesthetic with white linens, muted grey walls, marble door frames and large windows bringing in natural light. A mini bar also adds a personal touch. The guest bedroom, once used as a TV room, has a travertine wall and a lacquer-polished table with mesmerizing views of greenery outside.
Neil Nitin Mukesh’s home is more than a living space. It is a mix of belief, creativity and memory exactly how he wanted his home to be.
