Popular television actor Shweta Tiwari recently took her fans on a rare sneak peek into her relationship with her daughter Palak Tiwari, revealing how she raised her daughter. It was just like any other normal childhood, it seems. In a candid conversation with comedian Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa on their YouTube channel Bharti TV, Shweta shared her parenting rules when it came to her daughter.
Shweta Tiwari’s parenting rules for Palak
Describing her relationship with Palak as more friendly than authoritative, Tiwari said, “We are like friends.” However, there were several boundaries, she revealed. “I wasn’t strict, but there were certain rules,” the actor stated.
Shweta also added that curfews and punctuality were non-negotiable in her household. “If she promised to return home by 1 am, I expected her to be at the doorstep at that time, not just leaving the party then,” she said.
Shweta Tiwari also admitted on the podcast that she used to track Palak’s phone during her teenage years. “I was a little scared because she’s a girl and society can be strange. Even if she didn’t drink, people around her did,” she said. Shweta revealed that Palak only received her first phone when she entered college and did not wear makeup until the age of 16. “She used to attend school functions without any makeup,” she recalled.
While these rules focused on discipline and maintaining a balance, she also made it a point to instill financial responsibility in Palak from a young age. Shweta shared that Palak was given a monthly budget, and if she ever overspent, she had to compensate it through household chores.
“She was given a budget, say Rs 25,000, and if she crossed it by going up to Rs 30,000, she knew she’d have to make up for it. There was a list of tasks. Rs 1,000 for cleaning the bathroom, Rs 500 for making the bed, and Rs 1,000 for doing the dishes. She’d often do some chores in advance if she knew she was going to overspend,” Shweta recounted.
