The Indian ODI captain has achieved an incredible transformation shedding nearly 20 kgs and clearing the BCCI’s newly introduced Bronco Test. The timing couldn’t be better, as Rohit gears up for a highly anticipated return in the upcoming ODI series against Australia.

Rohit has been away from international cricket since winning the ICC Champions Trophy in mid-2025. But during this break, he focused mainly on improving his fitness. Hitman’s hard work paid off when he recently took the Bronco Test at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. The stamina test involves 1,200 metres of shuttle runs. As per media reports, Rohit completed it in just over five minutes, easily clearing the benchmark.

The BCCI hasn’t shared the exact numbers, but reports say the coaching staff was very impressed with Rohit’s improved stamina. 

From nearly 95 kg, his weight has reportedly dropped to about 75 kg in just a few months. Fans have been left stunned by the ‘before and after’ pictures and videos circulating online, showing a visibly leaner version of the usually stocky opener.

So, what changed? Along with intense cardio and endurance workouts, reportedly under the guidance of fitness professionals and his close friend Abhishek Nayar, Rohit made a huge shift in his diet.

What foods did Rohit Sharma ate and avoid during his weight loss journey 

Rohit Sharma has always been a foodie, known for his love of dal chawal, vada pav, butter chicken, seafood curries, and biryani. But to meet his fitness goals, as per media reports he had to cut down on carbs, fried snacks, and calorie-rich meals.

A diet chart reportedly followed by Rohit Sharma has gone viral on social media. While not officially confirmed, it shows the strict routine he followed to lose weight.

According to the chart:

– 7:00 am – 6 soaked almonds, sprout salad, fresh juice

– 9:30 am (Breakfast) – Oatmeal with fruits, glass of milk

– 11:30 am – Curd, chilla, coconut water

– 1:30 pm (Lunch) – Vegetable curry, dal, rice, salad

– 4:30 pm – Fruit smoothie, dry fruits

– 7:30 pm (Dinner) – Paneer with vegetables, pulao, vegetable soup

– 9:30 pm – Glass of milk, mixed nuts

Now, with his fitness back on track, Rohit Sharma is set for a powerful comeback in the ODI series against Australia. At 38, this transformation isn’t just about cricket, it’s about staying healthy and fit for himself and his family.
