Ahead of the release of his upcoming film, Coolie, Rajinikanth has praised Telugu superstar and his Coolie co-star Nagarjuna Akkineni, not only his appearance but also his disciplined lifestyle. In a promotional video for the upcoming film, the 74-year-old actor joked about his own hair loss while appreciating how youthful Nagarjuna looks even at 65.
Nagarjuna’s fitness regime at 65
Reflecting on their earlier collaboration over three decades ago in Shanti Kranthi (1991), Rajinikanth said, “I once acted with him 33–34 years ago. He looks younger now than he did back then. I’ve lost all my hair, and yet he’s maintaining his skin and physique. I asked him how he did it, and he said, nothing but exercise and diet.”
The superstar went on to share details, revealing how Nagarjuna follows a strict routine, finishing dinner by 6:30-7 pm, and follows a philosophy passed down from his late father, legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao, who advised him never to take anything to heart. Rajinikanth mentioned that this approach to life, along with a healthy regimen, has contributed to Nagarjuna’s enduring charm and energy.
Speaking warmly about their bond, Rajinikanth recalled the 17 days they spent shooting in Thailand for Coolie. “I won’t forget the conversations we had while shooting for 17 days in Thailand. He’s not just handsome, he’s a gentleman. I’ve played a villain many times in my career, but even I wonder if I could play Simon like him; he’s fantastic,” he said, referring to Nagarjuna’s role in the film.

Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, features an ensemble cast of Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, and Aamir Khan. The highly anticipated film is slated for release on August 14 and is set to face a major box office clash with Ayan Mukerji’s War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR.
While details of Coolie’s plot remain tightly under wraps, the makers have confirmed that it will not be part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), which includes blockbuster hits Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo.
