Instagram is a breeding ground for stalking people, and while most of us do not advocate stalking, we are all guilty (or not) of looking up accounts of people. Exes, potential dates, a rival at work, everyone likes to keep an eye. While you may be scrolling through your feed in peace, there might be accounts around you that are lurking around, keeping an eye on everything you are posting. Instagram’s new feature allows you to identify them with its ‘You May Want to Block’ feature, thus helping you keep unwanted accounts at bay. Here’s everything you need to know about Instagram’s ‘You May Want to Block’ feature and how to use it.

All about Instagram’s ‘You May Want to Block’ feature

Who is on the ‘You May Want to Block’ feature?

While Instagram hasn’t specified the criteria for how these accounts are identified to go to the block list, it mentions that people have been added ‘Based on your Accounts Centre’. This means that the accounts on the ‘You May Want to Block’ list are those associated with or related to accounts you have already blocked, for example, spam, trolls, or those that keep appearing on your feed under different usernames.

These can also be accounts that many other users have reported for reasons or accounts that have been flagged by Instagram for violating community guidelines or displaying suspicious behaviour.
