An eggs-citing news for all egg lovers. A rare was recently sold at an auction recently for a whopping £420 (Rs 46,000 approx. It’s USP? It is a perfectly round egg.
An egg handler on Fenton Farm near the Somerset and Devon border in England, Alison Greene, found a rare egg in December last year. After having handled more than 42 million eggs in her career, she had never seen a spherical egg.
After discovering the egg, she said to The Guardian in an interview, “It was really surprising because they roll in a specific way and this one just didn’t – it just stood out. It’s now something that nobody else has. Elon Musk hasn’t got a round egg has he? Hopefully, it will sell for a lot of money.”
The egg sold at the Bearnes Hampton Littlewood Auctioneers in Exeter for £420, as reported by BBC. The proceeds of the auction went to the Devon Rape Crisis, a charity which offers support to sexual violence and abuse survivors.
Speaking about the sale of the egg, Alison Greene told BBC, “It felt like watching one of my children in a sports race when everyone was bidding. It was just brilliant. There were people in the room bidding as well and to everyone that did bid, I am just very, very grateful.”
