Cannes 2024: The 77th Cannes Film Festival, held from May 14 to May 25, under the theme “Many Ways To Be An Icon,” focuses on confidence and self-empowerment. This year, several Indian celebrities served looks on the red carpet with their stunning fashion choices.

Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, a regular at Cannes, walked the red carpet on May 16. She dazzled in a striking black and white gown adorned with golden patterns, designed by Falguni Shane Peacock. The gown featured a dramatic long train decorated with large golden flowers. Aishwarya completed her retro-inspired look with big golden earrings and styled her hair in loose waves, pinned at the front. As one of the few Indian celebrities representing India at the French Riviera, Aishwarya once again captivated the audience with her elegance and style.

Sobhita Dhulipala made a remarkable impression at Cannes 2024, turning heads in a plum-coloured Namrata Joshipura jumpsuit. The sequined jumpsuit featured side cutouts, adding a touch of glamour. Sobhita’s hair was styled in soft waves, and she chose plum eyeshadow and nude lips to complement her look. Large gold hoops completed her ensemble, making her one of the standout figures on the red carpet.
Namita Thapar, a judge on Shark Tank India, made her Cannes debut on May 15, attending the premiere of “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” starring Chris Hemsworth. She wore a stunning mint green gown designed by Lebanese fashion designer Elio Abou Fayssal. The gown featured a leg slit and a long train, adding to its dramatic effect.
In an interview with Brut, Namita shared her excitement about the dress, saying, “I love the colour because it is so different. It is a colour that I have never worn before. I just hope that I can manage this long train, but I am having fun… I pray I don’t trip over it on the red carpet.”
Deepti Sadhwani, known for her roles in “Hasya Samrat” and “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah,” made her debut at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. She attended the premiere of “Le Deuxième Acte” (The Second Act). She shared her excitement on social media, writing, “Dreams do come true, and so did mine… As a child, I always dreamed about it, and finally at the 77th Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony at the French Riviera.”
The 77th annual Cannes Film Festival is set to take place from May 14 to May 25, 2024, at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes, France. This year marks a significant milestone for Indian cinema, as “All We Imagine As Light,” directed by Payal Kapadia, becomes the first Indian film in 30 years to compete for the prestigious Palme d’Or award. The film joins the ranks of works by renowned directors such as Francis Ford Coppola and Sean Baker.
