Dubai, known for its bespoke and luxurious experiences, just brewed the world’s most expensive cup of coffee. Setting a Guinness World Record, the Roasters Specialty Coffee House just became a millionaire’s coffee spot with this Dh 26000 cup of coffee. Priced at Rs 62,000, you’d think it is made of gold!

For coffee connoisseurs, it is something better. Brewed from the extremely rare Panama Esmeralda Geisha beans, Dubai’s cafe serves it in a handmade Edo Kiriko crystal glass. What makes it so special? This exquisite coffee takes its tasters on a sensory journey with a precision V60 pour-over to flavour note cards. The coffee is served alongside tiramisu, chocolate ice cream, and a specially crafted chocolate, all infused with the Geisha beans sourced from Esmeralda.

What is a V60 pour-over?

While the beans are not the only rarity in the coffee’s preparation process, the Rs 62,000 cup also requires intense precision. Made using a temperature-controlled kettle, it uses a manual brewing method designed in Japan.

The V60 dripper used hot water and a paper filter. Medium ground coffee, once placed, is carefully poured with water as brewed coffee drips into a cup below. The hot water allows the coffee to ‘bloom’ and release carbon dioxide. Not only does this method bring out the clarity, acidity, but it also enhances the flavour of the coffee. Designed with a 60-degree angle and spiral ridges to facilitate even water flow and extraction, the V60 dripper requires 15-16 grams of coffee to bring out the tones optimally.
