Abhishek Bachchan Makes Waves in Mumbai Property Market: Acquires Six Apartments

In a significant move in Mumbai’s bustling real estate market, Abhishek Bachchan has acquired six apartments in the prestigious Oberoi Sky City project by Oberoi Realty, located in Borivali. According to property registration documents obtained by Zapkey.com, the Bollywood actor spent a staggering Rs 15.42 crore on this purchase.

The apartments, totaling 4,894 sq ft in area, are situated on the 57th floor of the high-rise along the Western Express Highway in Borivali East. The transaction, finalized on May 28, 2024, includes ten car parking spaces, highlighting the scale and luxury of the investment.

Each square foot of RERA carpet area was priced at Rs 31,498, reflecting the premium nature of the property. Notably, the building has already received its occupation certificate, underscoring its readiness for occupancy.

This isn’t the first foray into real estate for Abhishek Bachchan, who previously sold a Mumbai apartment in the Oberoi 360 West project for Rs 45.75 crore in August 2021, a significant appreciation from its purchase price of Rs 41 crore in 2014.

Meanwhile, Abhishek’s father, Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, has also been active in property investments. Earlier this year, he purchased land worth Rs 10 crore in Alibaug and reportedly bought another parcel in Ayodhya for Rs 14.5 crore. These acquisitions add to the Bachchan family’s diverse portfolio of properties, including their iconic Juhu bungalow ‘Prateeksha.’

The Oberoi Sky City project has attracted other notable personalities as well. Actor Shahid Kapoor and his wife Mira Kapoor also own an apartment in the same building, while D’Mart owner Radhakishan Damani and associates invested Rs 1,238 crore in multiple apartments here in February 2023.

Despite attempts to reach out, representatives from Oberoi Realty and Abhishek Bachchan remained unavailable for comment, indicating the discreet nature of these high-profile transactions in Mumbai’s competitive real estate landscape.
