The Kamath brothers are synonymous with investing tips and financial advice. The Zerodha co-founders not only revolutionised the investing space, but also have gone viral for Nikhil Kamath’s podcast “WTF is”. However, lesser known for his resilience is Nithin Kamath suffered a brain stroke in 2024 but still managed to finish in 3rd place in the Hyrox regim in Mumbai, earlier this week.

Taking to social media, Prashant Desai, an entrepreneur and nutritionist, lauded Nithin Kamath‘s achievement. Hyrox, a German indoor fitness race, blends intense endurance and functional training along an 18 metre path. It involves heart rate-elevating exercises such as sled push, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmer’s carry, sandbag lunges, and wall balls. Now a social media trend, several fitness influencers took part in the trend in Mumbai as Hyrox events become increasingly popular in metro cities.

Living life differently

Pointing out the tendency to change your lifestyle after suffering a major life-altering event, Desai noted in his post that several people slow down. “Runs become walks. Gyms are avoided,” he remarked, pointing out how Nithin Kamath did it differently.

In February 2024, Kamath revealed publicly that he suffered a mild stroke in early 2024. He revealed that he was hugely stressed after his father’s death, had poor sleep, and overall exhaustion. He had all the early signs of the condition, including a drooping face and difficulty in reading and writing. It took him nearly 18 months to recover. This stroke, however, did not stop him from finishing the intensive Hyrox race and coming in third.

Lessons from Kamath’s journey

Desai pointed out that along with his inspiring commitment, he also didn’t make excuses for not improving. “If Nithin Kamath can make time to train, exercise, sleep and eat better, we must. We must not hide behind ‘I don’t have time’,” Desai remarked.

Further, he added that any heart-related ailment should inspire us to be fitter. It ” should propel us to bring back exercise, sleep, and nutrition,” he advised. In a light-hearted moment, Desai even praised Nithin Kamath’s mother, who shared a heartfelt message on the billionaire’s birthday. He coined the term “whealthy,” for the Zeroda CEO as a means to honour his dedication towards a healthy lifestyle and building wealth.
