The controversy building around Ranveer Allahbadia’s objectionable comment on Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent has intensified. After the remarks has gone viral police complaints have been filed against almost 30 individuals.
Amid the controversy YouTubers Apoorva Mukhija, also known as the ‘Rebel Kid’, and Ashish Chanchalani have provided their statements to the police.
In their statements to the police, as reported by News18, Mukhija and Chanchalani explained that the show is not scripted. They mentioned that panellists and contestants are encouraged to speak in a natural and open manner.
The Mumbai Police recorded statements from four individuals, including social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija, regarding the controversial comments made by Ranveer Allahbadia on the YouTube show “India’s Got Latent.”
According to an official from the Khar police station, the statements of Mukhija, Allahbadia’s manager, and two others were taken, but Allahbadia himself has not yet been questioned.
Additionally, they clarified that the judges do not receive payment for their appearances on the show but are allowed to share content from the show on their social media accounts. To participate in the show, individuals must purchase tickets, and the proceeds from these ticket sales are awarded to the winner of the show.
In the viral video, the influencer was seen asking a contestant, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever.” This remark was seen as vulgar and offensive.
The controversial video was removed from YouTube after the intervention of the I&B Ministry and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) following a massive uproar from politicians, celebrities and high-profile personalities. The matter was also raised in Parliament and police officials have registered an FIR against 30 people for promoting vulgar content.
As the controversy over Ranveer Allahbadia’s remarks continues to grow, the Mumbai Police have summoned both Allahbadia and Samay Raina for questioning. Raina’s lawyer had requested more time for the host to appear, but this request was denied. So far, police have recorded the statements of six individuals involved in the matter.
Cyber cell asks Youtube to remove all videos
\Additionally, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell has reached out to YouTube, demanding the removal of all episodes of India’s Got Latent that contain explicit content.
The Mumbai Police have also summoned several celebrities, including Siddhant Chaturvedi, Uorfi Javed, Tanmay Bhat, Rakhi Sawant, and Deepak Kalal, to provide statements in connection with the case. Ashish Chanchalani’s statement was recorded by Khar police today.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) has intervened as well, summoning Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina. The NCW stated that their comments have triggered widespread public outrage and violate the dignity and respect every individual deserves, especially in a society that values equality and mutual respect.
