Sunjay Kapur, a businessman and Chairman of Sona Comstar, passed away on June 12 after suffering a heart-attack. Ex-husband of actor, Karisma Kapoor, he was a father of a young daughter from wife, Priya Sachdev. Gone while playing polo, he mourned the loss of lives aboard the Air India flight just hours before his death.

His passing was confirmed by author Suhel Seth who took to X. “Deeply saddened at the passing of Sunjay Kapur, he passed away earlier today in England: a terrible loss and deepest condolences to his family and to his colleagues.” It left netizens shocked and displaced after seeing his post on X about the Air India tragedy just hours before Seth’s post.

Naor Gilon, the former ambassador of Israel to India, shared on social media a heartfelt image of the two and wrote he was “shocked and saddened to learn of the passing” of his “dear friend, Sunjay Kapur”.

As per media reports, Kapur was playing a game of polo at the Guards Polo Club in England. After facing discomfort, he urged the game to be stopped and fell to the ground. He was active on social media as he reportedly shared posts about recent developments. His posts about the Chenab Bridge also re-surfaced among many users.

Just three days ago, on June 9, Sunjay Kapur posted on X about the uncertainty of life. A quote that read, “Your time on Earth is limited. Leave the “what ifs” to the philosophers and instead dive headfirst into the “why nots.”

Pointing out the irony of the situation, netizens shared condolences, “this is very saddening and such a shock to see a successful young life fall.” There are speculations that Kapur was stung by a bee that entered his throat while riding his horse.
