The film has gained maximum audience in Kochi dominated by Tamil and Malayalam. On its first Sunday, Empuraan collected Rs 3.5 crore taking the total tally of the box office collection to Rs 98.5 crores, just a small margin before it reaches the Rs 100 crore mark. The makers of the film revealed that they have crossed the Rs 250 crore mark worldwide with its first week domestic collection crossing Rs 80 crore with a comfortable margin. Previously, only Manjummel Boys holds this record of crossing Rs 240 crores globally. Sharing on social media Director Sukumaran shared, “Malayalam cinema breaches the 250cr barrier for the first time in its history!”

Despite the prolonged Empuraan row about the representation of sensitive moments from history, the film has battled strongly with Salman Khan’s Eid release Sikandar. The film’s feat even after returning from the edit table is a testament to Malayali cinema and their fans across all languages. Recently, the Enforcement Directorate(ED) has also conducted thorough searches in the offices of Gokulam Gopalan, who became one of the producers of Empuraan to sort out the financial issues between Lyca Productions and Aashirvad Cinemas. Furthermore, actor-director Prithviraj Sukamaran also faced notices from the Income Tax Department to declare his earnings from his previous films.

From Malayali to Hindi, fans of the Lucifer series now await the release of the third part which the makers announced at the end of the film. There are multiple releases expected in April 2025 llike upcoming Tamil film, Good Bad Ugly and Hindi releases like Jaat and Bazooka, Alappuzha Gymkhana and Maranamass in Malayalam. Offering strong competition to two week old L2: Empuraan, there will be fewer screens showing Empuraan, taking a solid hit on its box office collections.
