Jaat Box Office Collection Day 4: As Sunny Deol returned to the theatres after two years of delivering his blockbuster Gadar 2 with “Jaat”, it nearly touched the Rs 10 crore mark on its opening day. With immense fan-following across generations, Sunny Deol is a timeless actor for an action film. Entering its first Saturday, the Jaat box office collection is Rs 9.75 crore so far taking the domestic tally up to Rs 26.25 crore. Performing modestly on its opening Friday, the film only earned Rs 7 crore in the big screens.
However, it has not broken Deol’s previous release record of Gadar 2 which made Rs 40 crore on its opening day alone. Sunny Deol’s highest grossing films, Gadar 2 made a total collection of nearly Rs 700 crore in its lifetime run. This exponential difference was seen when Jaat still struggles to cross even the double digit mark on its opening weekend.
Jaat occupancy rate
The overall occupancy rate for Jaat was a mere mark above 11% on its debut Friday in Hindi with maximum audience from Chennai followed by Jaipur, Bengaluru and finally Delhi NCR. Interestingly, Jaat has over 5,200 shows out of which 1,1415 shows are scheduled in Delhi NCR alone with a higher occupancy rate on Day 3 of nearly 17%.
Jaat is also a contemporary of Salman Khan’s Sikandar, John Abraham’s Diplomat and Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly. Despite of Sikandar’s poor reviews, the film has grossed Rs 100 crore worldwide but saw a steep decline after Jaat’s release. Kollywood’s Good Bad Ugly had received stellar reviews by fans and that too has grossed Rs 60 crores in three days.
Starring Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda, Vineet Kumar Singh, Saiyami Kher, Regina Cassandra, and Jagapathi Babu in key roles, Jaat has been directed by Gopichand Malineni. Among the other top five grossers for Sunny Deol, Jaat made it to the seventh position after Gadar, Yamla Pagla Deewana, Border, Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 and Singh Saab The Great.
The iconic movie star at 67 still manages to impress his fans with his acting and dialogue delivery as the original action hero of the 1980s. Fans await his next release Lahore 1947, a Rajkumar Santoshi directorial.
