Renowned film producer, writer, and journalist Pritish Nandy passed away on Wednesday at the age of 73. His son, filmmaker Kushan Nandy, confirmed the news to SCREEN.
Actor Anupam Kher expressed his grief, sharing an emotional tribute: “Deeply saddened and shocked to learn about the demise of one of my dearest and closest friends.”
Pritish Nandy was a multifaceted personality who left an indelible mark across various fields. Known for his contributions as a journalist and humanitarian, he also gained popularity as the host of The Pritish Nandy Show on Doordarshan in the 1990s, where he interviewed prominent celebrities.
In the early 2000s, Nandy ventured into film production under his banner, Pritish Nandy Communications, delivering critically acclaimed and commercially successful movies such as Sur, Kaante, Jhankaar Beats, Chameli, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, and Pyaar Ke Side Effects.
Continuing his legacy in storytelling, Pritish Nandy Communications recently produced the popular web series Four More Shots Please! and the anthology series Modern Love Mumbai, showcasing his ability to adapt to evolving mediums of entertainment.
