Zarine Khan, veteran actor Sanjay Khan’s wife and mother of Zayed Khan and Susanne Khan, passed away at 81 on Friday due to age-related ailments. She died in her Mumbai home as per reports and is survived by her 85-year-old husband and their four children, Sussanne Khan, Simone Arora, Farah Ali Khan, and Zayed Khan. According to reports Zarine was keeping unwell for quite some time.
Zarine who was a model and actor before her marriage reportedly met Sanjay for the first time at a bus stop. The two got married in 1966. Known as Zarine Katrak at the time, she acted in Bollywood films like Tere Ghar Ke Saamne and Ek Phool Do Mali. Many would remember her in the role of Dev Anand‘s secretary in the film Tere Ghar Ke Saamne.
After quitting entertainment industry, Zarine established herself as an interior designer. She was also passionate about cooking and authored a cookbook titled Family Secret.
After the news came out, tributes have been pouring in for Zarine from her friends and well-wishers from the industry.
Farah Ali Khan posts a heartfelt tribute for mother Zarine
Farah Ali Khan, Zarine’s daughter and a celebrated jewellery designer took to social media to post a heartfelt tribute for her mother.
“Celebrating Zarine Khan, my mother who plays so many roles effortlessly. My greatest gift and blessing from God Almighty. She is kind caring generous loving. She is strong, loyal, family oriented and supportive of all around her. Her random acts of charity to one and all and her ability to forgive and forget makes her special,” she wrote.
Farah wrote how her mother always saw the rainbow in the dark clouds and was a “dream girl” to all her women friends who look up to her and admire her wonderful qualities.

“I am so blessed mamma to be your daughter and to have you be my guiding light. Thank you for being you. I celebrate you every moment and am grateful for you with every breath I take. May God give you a long healthy happy life filled with immeasurable happiness health wealth prosperity love laughter luck and more. I love you more and more every day. You are my miracle of life. Love you mom,” she wrote.
Meanwhile, well-wishers from the entertainment industry have started arriving at Zarine’s house to pay tribute. Shabana Azmi, Bobby Deol, Neelam Kothari, Rakul Preet Singh, and Jackky Bhagnani were seen arriving at Khan’s residence.
