Looks like Ed Sheeran’s engagement with the Indian music industry doesn’t end with his newest hit single Sapphire. The song is a collaboration with Indian playback singer Arijit Singh, and even features a glimpse of everyone’s favourite Shah Rukh Khan. The music video was shot in various Indian cities, including Hyderabad, Kolkata and Shillong. But Ed Sheeran didn’t just stop there; he recently revealed that he’s recording a Hindi song for a Shah Rukh Khan film! And fans have started speculating as to which film it might be.

Ed Sheeran’s Social Media Post

On Tuesday, Ed Sheeran posted a behind-the-scenes video with the crew of Sapphire, trying to sing Punjabi lyrics, talking about singing in Hindi and discussing Shah Rukh Khan’s cameo in the music video.

A user shared the clip, writing, “Can’t wait for the full Punjabi version Check out the behind the scenes on Ed’s YouTube Channel! Ed said Hindi version in that video, so I’m not sure if the other version of the song will be Hindi or Punjabi now!”

Replying to the post himself, the British singer mentioned, “The Hindi song was for a Bollywood movie SRK is doing, this is the Punjabi version of Sapphire with Arijit. I’m just doing all languages at this point.”

Of course, this left the fans both ecstatic and guessing.

Since King is the only confirmed project SRK is currently working on, fans were quick to connect the dots and conclude that Ed Sheeran’s Hindi song must be for King. The fact that he was seen with the director of King in a recording studio further fuelled speculations.

The upcoming 2026 film will be directed by Siddharth Anand (who also directed Pathaan), written by Sujoy Ghosh and will feature a star cast including SRK, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Jaideep Ahlawat, among others. Shah Rukh Khan’s real-life daughter, Suhana Khan, will also appear in the film.

While speaking about the film, Shah Rukh Khan said, “It’s a film called King, which is directed by Sujoy Ghosh Kahaani and creatively produced by Siddharth Anand, who made Pathaan. It is an action drama. It’s a Hindi film. It’ll be interesting. I’ve been wanting to do a film like that for some time, and I really wanted to do a film like this for seven, eight years. We just felt Sujoy would be the right choice, because we wanted it to be very emotionally correct. We are all coming together to make a cool, massy, action, emotional film.”
