South Korean actress Lee Seo Yi has sadly passed away at the age of 43. The devastating news of her death was belatedly relayed via social media by someone who called themseld her manager. On July 1, they took to Instagram to announce her sudden passing in June.
“This is Song Seo Bin, manager of actress Lee Seo Yi,” they wrote in the post’s caption, sharing a black and white picture of her. “A radiant, beautiful, lovely and kind unnie became a star in the sky on June 20, 2025, so I leave this message here.”
“I know many of you must be shocked and deeply saddened by the news of her passing, but I kindly ask that you pray so that she may go to a good and beautiful place,” they added. “If you wish to know where she is resting, please contact @songsong_seo.”
Lee’s manager claimed to have posted the heartbreaking news of behalf of the K-drama actress. A cause of death has yet to be revealed.
Who was Lee Seo Yi?
Born in 1982, the South Korean actress most recently appeared in the tvN drama The Divorce Insurance. Lee Seo Yi appeared took on a guest role as a baker in the fifth episode of the comedy series starring Lee Dong Wook, Lee Joo Bin, Lee Kwang Soo and Lee Da Hee in the lead.
The late actress’ career took flight with the 2013 MBC historical drama Hur Jun, the Original Story. She eventually went on to star in shows like Cheongdamdong Scandal, City of the Sun, Bravo My Life, Romance Special Law and Pegasus Market, appearing in support or guest roles.
Her brief cinematic acting stint also included film credits like Killing Romance (Lee Hae Nee, Lee Sun Kyun, Gong Myung), How to Live in This World, The King (Zo In Sung Jung Woo Sung, Ryu Jun Yeol), The Royal Traitor (Han Seok Kyu, Go Soo, Park Shin Hye, Yoo Yeon Seok, Ma Dong Seok), and Scarlet Innocence (Jung Woo Sung, Esom), as per MyDramaList.
K-media reports indicated that she stood her ground as a prolific academic, having majored in Czech and Slovak studies at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. Lee Seo Yi later went on to pursue higher academic qualifications at Pusan National University’s graduate school.
According to her Instagram page @eseoe242, she was possibly also a florist, and was behind the flower shop ‘Bouquet242,’ as reflected on the @bouquet_242 IG page as well. The actress is seen posing with various flower arrangements and bouquets in numerous posts on the social media profile.
