India’s favourite music reality show, Indian Idol, is not going to remain the same after one of its most loved judges, Vishal Dadlani leaves the show after six long years. As the 15th season of the show held its finale last night, Vishal took to Instagram to announce his exit.
After the finale of Indian Idol season 15 got over, Vishal shared a behind-the-scenes video with his co-judges Shreya Ghoshal and Badshah, on Instagram. In the video, he revealed that the finale was his last episode as a judge of the show. He also shared the reason for his exit in the same video.
In the video, he is seen having fun with Shreya and Badshah. Vishal wrote, Alvida, yaaro. 6 seasons mein jitna mazaa kiya, uss se bhi zyada yaad aayegi. @shreyaghoshal @badboyshah @adityanarayanofficial #IndianIdol @fremantleindia @sonytvofficial @aradhanabhola @chitralangeh. Haqq se zyada pyaar milaa hai, iss show ki vajah se. Eternally grateful to everyone involved. I hope the show will miss me as much as I’ll miss it.”
“I’m literally only leaving because I want my time back. Can’t stay stuck in Mumbai for 6 months each year,” the singer-composer added.
Thanking his co-judges, he added, “Thanks Shreya, Badshah, Adi, Aradhana, Chitra, Anand ji, Ananya, Sonal, Pratibha, Sahil, Saloni, Muskaan, Abisha, the entire production crew, Vilas, Pakya, Kaushik (Pinky), and all the singers and musicians down the years! Also the mix, sound and tech crew (Mahesh ji, Rakesh and all), the lighting guys, the stage hands, the cleaning crew, Sajidbhai and Satishbhai (our still photographers), and everyone. Only LOVE to each and all of you with an added apology to anyone I’ve left out here. Time to get back to making music, playing concerts and never putting on make-up! It’s #VishalAndSheykhar season!! Jai ho!”

Reacting to this news, his industry friends and peers wished him luck for his new innings. Indian Idol host Aditya Narayan wrote, “The end of an era. Indian Idol will never be the same without you, big brother. Grateful for all the great times together.” His co-judge Badshah wrote, “Jaane nahi, denge tumhe.” Hazel Keech, too, had a beautiful message for the musician. She commented, “You used the audio clip from “All Dogs Go To Heaven” (that was one of my favourite animated movies growing up). Makes this post really heart wrenching, my mother will be sad not to see you getting emotional on tv anymore.”
Vishal Dadlani was a judge on Indian Idol from season 10 to season 1, and also on Indian Idol Junior seasons 1 and 2.
Meanwhile, Indian Idol season 15 saw Manasi Ghosh, a 24-year-old from Kolkata, emerge as the winner at last night’s finale episode. She beat Subhajit Chakraborty and Sneha Shankar to win the title.
