Varun Dhawan starrer ‘Badlapur’ box office collections, which opened on a positive note, have become the fourth biggest of the year, with Rs 30.90 crore in the first 5 days of its release – it was prevented from going further by Akshay Kumar’s ‘Baby’, which is still luring customers to theatre seats.

Akshay Kumar’s ‘Baby’ still remains the 2015’s best opening weekend grosser with Rs 36.07 crore, followed by Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Roy’ with Rs 28.68 crore and ‘Badlapur’ with Rs 24 crore.
The Varun Dhawan-Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer’s Sunday business got affected because of the the India-South Africa cricket World Cup match. The ‘Adults’ tag also hampered collections a bit as Varun Dhawan’s target audience are generally youth and ‘Badlapur’, which as stars Huma Qureshi, is meant for mature moviegoers. The film’s day 1 box office collections (Rs 7 cr) made ‘Badlapur’ the fourth biggest opening grosser of 2015. This year’s biggest opener is ‘Roy’ with Rs 10.40 crore, followed by Rs 9.3 crore from ‘Baby’ and Rs 7.05 crore from ‘Tevar’. However, while ‘Badlapur’ got rave reviews from the critics, ‘Roy’ was panned roundly.

‘Badlapur’ has also become Varun Dhawan’s third highest grossing film behind Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (Rs 9.02 crore) and Student Of The Year (Rs. 7.48 crore).
Now all eyes are on the weekdays. Unlike the Ranbir Kapoor- Jacquelin Fernandes starrer ‘Roy’, that featured the best opening day collections of the year, ‘Badlapur’ is expected to gain strength as time passes. The film has been appreciated by the audience and the movie’s box office collections look to be propped up by positive word of mouth. In fact, both the actors, Varun Dhawan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, have been applauded by one and all for stellar performances in the film.
