A security guard at an international Chanel store reportedly made a big mistake, prompting a reaction from pop icon Jennifer Lopez. The world-famous artist probably had big plans to splurge her money on a fashion brand, the love for which she once flaunted on her nails, while strolling through the streets of a Turkish city this week, but things didn’t go as planned.

Out and about in an all-baby pink outfit of the day, the 56-year-old singer-actress rocked matching sunglasses, hoping to make the most of a day she had dedicated to shopping. Lopez was about to walk into a Chanel store at Istanbul’s upscale shopping centre Istinye Park, when a security guard stopped her in her tracks. According to local reports spilling all over social media, the international Chanel store’s staffer possibly did not recognise the A-lister in their midst, and asked her to turn back.

Upon being denied entry into the fashion store, Lopez calmly reacted to the situation, saying , “OK, no problem.” Presumably, as realisation must have hit the employees in hindsight, they tried their level best to get the “On the Floor” hit-maker to come back. However, she is believed to have declined their invitation.

Upon walking away from the scene, she went on to exact her proverbial revenge by shelling big cash at rival brand boutiques. JLo splurged a total of tens of thousands of dollars at neighbouring outlets like Celine and Beymen, according to Turkiye Today.

Pictures of her recent shopping day have since hit the Internet as well. Lopez was snapped alone, while surrounded by a crowd, as she scanned through her options.

One can’t help but recall Lopez’s little shout-out to the luxury brand in light of the recent Chanel snub. Some may recall how ‘Jenny from the Block’ got her fans to take a closer look at her nails at the Met Gala 2023. Back then, she chose to honour the theme “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” by flashing a ‘Chanel-studded mani’ on the nail of her ring finger.

Nail artist Tom Bachik, who’d crafted the Chanel logo mani, still has the “up close & personal” snap of the same on his Instagram feed.
