In a recent conversation with Friday Talkies, actor Pallavi Joshi, his sister, recalled his casting in Yash Chopra’s Deewar. “For Deewar, my brother was called and hum Yash ji se milne gaye the. I had also tagged along, I have a blurry memory of it when we went to meet on the set. The shooting had already started and Amit ji saw dada and said, ‘Arey, kaise ho?’ Then, he told Yash ji that give him my childhood version to play. Finally, dada was cast in Deewar and he played the younger Vijay,” she said.

In an earlier interview with Times Now, Alankar himself spoke about his childhood fame. He said, “Long workdays, night shoots, getting mobbed every time you are seen in public. This is why a strong family support is so important. My parents helped me focus on things that matter, like getting good at the craft. I was taught to graciously accept the praise and adulation but never get carried away.”

Alankar shifted his focus from films and pursued a career in technology. “He decided to change his line completely, he went into software programming. He went to America, did job at a software company for two years,” Pallavi added. He later co-founded his own tech venture in the U.S., where he has now lived for 35 years. According to media reports and estimates, his net worth stands at approximately Rs 200 crore today.

One of Alankar’s twin daughters, Anuja Joshi, is a working actor in Hollywood, New York, Los Angeles, and Mumbai. She is known for her role in Hello Mini, an Amazon MX Player thriller. His son is pursuing music, while his other daughter is also exploring acting. Their elder sister, Padmashri, is a prominent figure in Marathi cinema.
