Kannada star Darshan Thoogudeepa’s latest movie, The Devil, is having a decent run at the box office. After a massive start on its first day, the film’s earnings slowed down but have stayed strong over the first weekend, showing that fans are still keen to see the action-drama.
The Devil Box Office Collection Day 3
The movie started off with a bang, bringing in an impressive Rs 10 crore on its first day alone, according to trade analysts. However, collections dropped significantly on the second day to about Rs 3.4 crore. Early reports suggest the third day saw a similar collection of around Rs 3.75 crore. This means the film’s total earnings so far have reached roughly Rs 17.15 crore.
Audience crowds increase by evening
Even with mixed reviews from critics, audiences have been turning up, especially for later shows. On a recent Saturday, the movie had an overall 41.98 percent occupancy across the regions where Kannada is spoken. While morning shows were slow at 17.52 percent, the numbers shot up in the afternoon (41.57 percent) and evening (49.71 percent). The night shows peaked at a very strong 59.10 percent, which shows that more people are getting interested as the day goes on.
About The Devil
Directed by Prakash Veer, The Devil has Darshan in a double role. He plays two completely different characters: Krishna, a simple and innocent man, and Danush Rajasekhar, the powerful and corrupt son of a Chief Minister.
The story is a classic mix of action and drama, following Krishna as his quiet life is thrown into chaos after he gets mixed up with Danush’s world of crime and power. It’s a tale of good versus evil, exploring themes of innocence fighting against arrogance and corruption, all leading up to a fight for justice.
The movie also stars Rachana Rai, Mahesh Manjrekar, Achyuth Kumar, and Sharmiela Mandre in important roles.
Darshan’s journey
Darshan Thoogudeepa is a major name in the Kannada film industry, with a long career spanning over two decades. However, his professional journey has often been in the spotlight due to personal controversies, including an arrest in 2011 related to a case involving his wife. Despite this history, his massive fan following continues to support his new releases enthusiastically.
With stable collections during the weekend and strong attendance for evening shows, The Devil is successfully holding its position at the box office, suggesting that the star power of Darshan is still a huge draw for moviegoers.
