Stree 2 continues its remarkable performance at the box office, steadily approaching the record set by Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster ‘Jawan’ as the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time. On Monday, the horror-comedy featuring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor maintained its strong hold, earning Rs 3.25 crore according to Sacnilk, an industry tracker.

With total earnings now standing at Rs 530 crore, ‘Stree 2’ has surpassed major action hits like ‘Gadar 2’ (Rs 525 crore) and the Hindi collection of ‘Pathaan’ (Rs 524 crore). The next milestone for the film is to surpass the Hindi-language earnings of ‘Jawan’, which stands at Rs 582 crore, according to Sacnilk.

However, the all-language earnings of ‘Jawan’ amount to Rs 640 crore, a number ‘Stree 2’ is unlikely to surpass. Other major box office records, including global collections held by ‘Anima’ (Rs 915 crore), ‘Pathaan’ (Rs 1,050 crore), and ‘Jawan’ (Rs 1,100 crore), also remain secure. So far, ‘Stree 2’s  worldwide earnings are under Rs 760 crore.

The competition between ‘Stree 2’ and ‘Jawan’ has intensified, with the former even outperforming the latter in its fourth weekend. While ‘Jawan’ set the record with Rs 22.30 crore during its fourth weekend, ‘Stree 2’ took in Rs 24 crore, comfortably surpassing it. Despite the lack of a holiday boost, ‘Stree 2’ continued to perform well on Monday, positioning itself for steady earnings throughout the week and potentially another surge over the fifth weekend.

A key factor behind ‘Stree 2’s’ success is the absence of major new releases. Although it initially clashed with ‘Khel Khel Mein’ (Akshay Kumar) and ‘Vedaa’ (John Abraham) on August 15, it has enjoyed a month-long free run since. The only real competition it faces is Kareena Kapoor’s ‘The Buckingham Murders’, which releases this Friday, though it is unlikely to have a significant impact.

Following this, ‘Stree 2’ will face Siddhant Chaturvedi and Malavika Mohanan’s ‘Yudhra’, but this too is unlikely to halt the film’s momentum. The next big release, ‘Devara’ starring Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor, hits theatres on September 27—by which time ‘Stree 2’ may have already set several new records.
