Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal are set to marry this month. Ahead of the wedding, Zaheer’s father, Iqbal Ratansi, addressed rumours about Sonakshi converting to Islam post-marriage. Speaking to the Free Press Journal, he clarified, “There will be neither Hindu nor Muslim rituals. It will be a civil marriage.”

He emphasized, “She is not converting, and that is for sure. Theirs is a union of hearts, and religion has no role to play whatsoever. I believe in humanity. God is called Bhagwan by Hindus and Allah by Muslims, but at the end of the day, we are all human beings. My blessings are with Zaheer and Sonakshi.”

Recently, Shashi Ranjan, a close friend of Sonakshi’s father Shatrughan Sinha, provided more wedding details. He told ETimes, “She (Sonakshi) is marrying the man she loves. Everybody is participating. Shatru ji’s brothers are also coming from America for the wedding. The registered marriage will take place at Zaheer Iqbal’s house. It is a very happy moment for me and the family.”

Shatrughan Sinha confirmed his presence at the wedding a few days ago, addressing rumuors that he might not attend. In an interview with Zoom, he said, “Tell me, whose life is it anyway? It’s the life of my only daughter Sonakshi, whom I am very proud of and immensely fond of. She calls me the pillar of her strength. I will be there at the wedding, certainly. Why shouldn’t I and why won’t I?”

He added, “The very fact that I have still been in Mumbai conveys that I am here not only as her pillar of strength but as her real kavach (armor) as well. Sonakshi and Zaheer have to live life together. They look very nice together.”

Sonakshi and Zaheer have been rumoured to be dating since 2020. They shared screen space in the 2022 film “Double XL” and featured together in the music video “Jodi Blockbuster” last year.
