Sharda Sinha, the legendary folk singer celebrated for her unforgettable contributions to Maithili, Bhojpuri, and Magahi music is currently on ventilator support because of severe health issues. The news has been confirmed by her son Anshuman who went live on his YouTube channel and has requested everybody to pray for her. Sinha has been admitted to AIIMS Delhi for many days.

Anshuman further mentioned that he wants everybody to remember her in her prayers as she is in a lot of pain. He appealed to all her fans and to all those who are observing Chhath Puja to include her mother in their prayers. He ensured that he would keep updating them regarding her health so that there would be no miscommunication. Sinha, a recipient of Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, is known for bringing Bihar’s folk traditions to a national platform. Her soulful songs on ”Chhath Puja and ”Paag”‘ have made her a household name.

Meanwhile, AIIMS Delhi shared a post on its social media account on X stating, ‘’Noted folk singer, Smt. Sharda Sinha is been treated at AIIMS Delhi.’’. The post further mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is continuously in touch with the doctor treating her and is monitoring the condition. He has extended his prayers and hopes for a speedy recovery.

Dr Rima Dada who is a professor-in charge off AIIMS media cell while talking to PTI stated that Sinha has been suffering from multiple myeloma since 2017 and is currently on oxygen support because of health complications that have occurred because of cancer.

She has been credited for introducing the vibrancy of regional music to broader audiences. As the news of Sinha’s critical health condition has spread, messages of hope and support have been shared by fans, fellow artists, and cultural icons on social media platforms. The 72-year-old singer is also known for preserving India’s rich cultural heritage and promoting Indian folk music.
