Mohit Suri’s much-anticipated romantic musical drama Saiyaara releases in cinemas today, after a massive pre-release numbers. Produced by Yash Raj Films and starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, the film has already made history before its first show, courtesy the advance ticket sales.

Even though the film doesn’t have any big stars, Saiyaara has already achieved success at the pre-sale box office window, becoming the biggest and most successful debut-led film in more than two decades.

Saiyaara advance booking

According to box office tracker Sacnilk, Saiyaara has earned a whopping Rs 9.39 crore through advance bookings alone, with 380,847 tickets sold across India on the film’s release day, July 18. There are a total of 7,850 shows running across the country in multiple formats. When counting in block seating, the gross figure rises to Rs 12.49 crore, which is a big number considering that there are no big stars in the movie.

How does Saiyaara’s advance booking compare with other debuts?

Saiyaara’s pre-sale earnings leave behind a lot of films which were also debutant-led. Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter’s Dhadak opened at Rs 8.76 crore, while Ananya Panday’s Student of the Year earned Rs 3.75 crore. This is interesting because Ahaan Panday and Ananya Panday are first cousins.

If the early trends continue, it is expected that the film will mint over Rs 20 crore on opening day, which is an extraordinary feat for a mid-budget production. The largest number of shows have been scheduled to play in Maharashtra (170), followed closely by Uttar Pradesh (164) and Delhi NCR (133).

In comparison to other Bollywood releases in 2025, Saiyaara’s advance booking numbers leave them behind as well. Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force earned Rs 3.78 crore in pre-sales, Kesari Chapter 2 Rs 1.84 crore, and Raid 2 with Ajay Devgn Rs 6.52 crore. Even Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par had earned only Rs 3.32 crore in advance bookings.

As Saiyaara releases today, it will face stiff competition from Hollywood films like Superman and Jurassic World: Rebirth, as well as Indian releases like Rajkummar Rao’s Maalik.
