Mumbai Police have clarified that a man detained on Friday was not connected to the recent attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra residence. The man, who was seen being taken to the Bandra police station in the morning, had initially been speculated to have links with the stabbing incident. However, a senior Mumbai Police officer confirmed that the individual was not involved in the attack, stating that no arrests or detentions had been made in connection with the case.

The confusion arose after reports indicated that the detained individual might have been the person who broke into Khan’s home and attacked him. The police, however, swiftly denied these claims, assuring that the investigation is ongoing. In a separate update, media reports revealed that the suspect, believed to have been involved in the attack, was last seen near the Bandra railway station. From what is understood, authorities believe that the attack boarded a local train to Vasai Virar.

Police teams are now actively searching the areas of Vasai, Nalasopara, and Virar as part of their ongoing manhunt, according to a statement released by them. The investigation into the attack continues as the authorities work to locate the assailant and bring him to justice. CCTV footage captured the assailant running down the stairs from Saif Ali Khan’s Bandra residence shortly after the attack.

Saif Ali Khan was stabbed six times by an unknown assailant at the actor’s residence in the wee hours of 16 January 2025. The actor was rushed to Lilavati Hospital where he is still undergoing treatment. In the latest statements released by the hospital, Khan is out of surgery and was shifted to the regular ward from the ICU. Media reports suggest that Saif Ali Khan may have been trying to protect his young son, Jehangir, as the assailant was reportedly found in the actor’s younger son’s room during the attack.
