Sachin: A Billion Dreams box office collection: The film based on the life of cricket’s living legend Sachin Tendulkar has seen an upward trend in the box office collection on the second day of its release. The biopic, which was released on May 26, made a business of Rs 9.20 crore on Saturday. With its opening day earning of Rs 8.40 crore, the film has so far collected Rs 17.60 crore in India, reported Bollywood Hungama. The docu-drama directed by James Erskine that features music by the musical maestro AR Rahman has been released in 2,800 screens worldwide in five languages including Hindi, English, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu. Considering it’s a docu-drama, Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said the collection of the movie is “fantastic”.

Based on the life of master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, who has broken and set numerous records in his name during his cricket career, has also set a record of sorts with this film’s release. It has become the first docu-drama to get the biggest opening in the genre. “Sachin: A Billion Dreams creates history as docu-drama. Biggest opening in the genre with Rs 8.40 crore in India in all languages,” shared the makers of the movie with news agency IANS.

Ahead of the release of the film, its special screening was held for the Indian cricket team before it left for England to attend to take part in the ICC Champions Trophy. Sharing a picture of Virat Kohli, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh and other cricketers with him on his Twitter account, Sachin posted, “Thanks team #India for making the day special. A lasting image of the boys led by @imVkohli before they left for #CT17”
