Queen of Tears actress Kim Ji Won has kept her fans waiting for next K-drama comeback ever since the tvN rom-com series attained record-breaking status on both domestic and international platforms. The beloved star may just have set her eyes on a role that has equally made ripples in the real-world, as per new K-media reports.
Kim Ji Won’s next K-drama confirmed?
On Wednesday, a source from the her agency, HighZium Studio, officially shared with South Korean media outlet OSEN that “Detective Park Mi Ok” is one of the projects she has been offered. As far as confirmations go, Kim is still just reviewing the role and the drama title, but nothing has been set in stone.
The upcoming show even has an extra Queen of Tears connection, especially since Kim Hee Won, who will be sitting in the director’s chair, also co-directed the massive 2024 tvN hit series (and Crash Landing On You).
Previous reports also suggested that Ji Won was ready to commence filming her forthcoming K-drama, which has so far been titled as “Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia.” According to MyDramaList, actors Lee Jung Eun, Son Hyun Joo and Kim Woo Seok are also attached to this show, which is expected to air on SBS in 2026.

Based on South Korea’s first real-life female detective, Park Mi Ok, will give way to an ambitious collaboration between Chung Seo Kyung and director Kim Hee Won. The creative duo recently worked together for the Disney+ drama Tempest, starring Gang Dong Waon and Jun Ji Hyun.
A source additionally spilled to Sports Chosun that Jung had even delivered and “early draft of her developing script” to highly sought-after actress Kim Ji Won.
Writer Chung Seo Kyung has gained quite a name for herself as a frequent collaborator of director Park Chan Wook. They’ve co-written several highly-praised projects, including The Handmaiden, Decision to Leave and Lady Vengeance.
