‘Predator: Badlands’ box office collection: Elle Fanning’s science-fiction reboot of the ‘Predator’ franchise, ‘Badlands’, has become one of the highest openers of the week. Coming atop Jennifer Lawrence‘s much-awaited ‘Die My Love,’ ‘Predator: Badlands’ has hit the jackpot on the opening day box office collections. Grossing over $15 million for its debut, the ‘Predator: Badlands’ has set the expectations high for the opening weekend.

With preview screenings in 3725 locations, the Elle Fanning sci-fi franchise is on its way to cross $25-30 million over the weekend. For comparison, ‘Alien: Romulus,’ another Disney reboot from its 20th Century Fox lineup, opened in August 2024 with $42 million. Mubi’s ‘Die My Love’ barely crossed $1 million on its opening day and weekend and is off to a slow start.

However, the biggest opener for the ‘Predator’ series remains with the iconic crossover in 2004. The ‘Alien vs Predator’, which features Sanaa Lathan, Raoul Bova, and Lance Henriksen, opened with $38 million. The third part of the ‘Alien vs Predator’ is set to unveil in 2026, starring Netflix star Jenna Ortega.

‘Predator: Badlands’ – Budget and more

As per a Variety report, Disney spent about $105 million to produce ‘Predator: Badlands’, with a considerable amount in marketing. But it is much less than the underperforming Tron: Ares, which grossed $33 million on its opening weekend. However, local media reports suggest that ‘Predator: Badlands’ is set to break the benchmark by a margin, given the positive word-of-mouth and better reviews.

“To say I enjoyed Predator: Badlands is an understatement. The little kid in me was absolutely raving for this creature feature adventure. It was a perfect reminder of why I enjoy Sci-fi,” read a review on X (formerly Twitter).

So far, it has received a 7.6 IMDb rating as audiences call it a ‘comic book than a movie.’ On the other hand, fans were puzzled about where the hate was coming from. “Can’t wait to see it again, and I hope there will be a sequel,” wrote a fan. It was found to be overall entertaining and a viewer opined, “It’s finally here, a Predator movie that doesn’t take itself too seriously, yet remains incredibly well-made and thoroughly entertaining.”
