As Prime Minister Narendra Modi trends across the nation on his 75th birthday, his grand biopic titled Maa Vande: The Anthem of a Mother’, depicting journey from his childhood to rise as the leader of the nation, has been announced.
Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan, known for his work in Marco and Garudan has been roped in to play PM Modi in the upcoming biopic.
In a press release issued by Silver Cast Creations, the makers of the film, it is said that the movie is based on true incidents and will follow PM Modi’s life from childhood to becoming Prime Minister of the country. The film will also delve into the deep bond PM shared with his late mother Heeraben Modi, who supported him in his journey.
‘Meeting him in person left an indelible mark’
Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan took to social media to share his excitement about playing Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also shared the experience of meeting him in person.
“Having grown up in Ahmedabad, I first knew him as my Chief Minister during my childhood. Years later, in April 2023, I had the privilege of meeting him in person, a moment that left an indelible mark on me,” he wrote while sharing the news of playing the titular role in the movie.
Film to highlight PM Modi’s bond with his mother
Mukundan shared how the film will bring out a lesser-known side of Modi including his bond with his mother who shaped his personality.
“As an actor, stepping into this role is overwhelming yet deeply inspiring. His political journey has been nothing short of extraordinary, but in this film, we aim to explore the man beyond the statesman, especially his profound bond with his mother, who shaped his character and spirit,” he wrote further.
The ace Malayalam actor also shared the two words spoken by Modi that he remembered during his life’s struggles.
“From my own interaction with him, two words of him have stayed with me through life’s trials. In Gujarati, he said: “Jhookvanu Nahi”, which means “Never Bow Down.” Those words have been a source of strength and resolve for me ever since,” he shared.
Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared on his X handle that Maa Vande will release worldwide, in every major Indian language.
“#MaaVande will be made in multiple #Indian languages as well as #English, showcasing events and milestones from #Modi ji’s personal and political journey, while also highlighting his special bond with his mother, #Heeraben,” he wrote.

This is not the first film on PM Narendra Modi’s life. In 2019, a film helmed by Omung Kumar and written by Anirudh Chawla was made under the banner of Legend Studios. It starred Vivek Oberoi, who depicted PM Modi in the film.
