Shraddha Kapoor shared the trailer of her upcoming movie with Aditya Roy Kapur, OK Jaanu, on Twitter today. The film, directed by Shaad Ali, follows Tara, who’s set to leave for Paris for further studies, and Adi, who’s also due to leave the country for the US. The pair decides to have a live-in relationship till they leave for their individual pursuits. Sounds somewhat familiar?
When Befikre, starring Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor, was released last week on the peg of being the love story for millennials, reviews suggested that it missed the mark. That pair also decided to experiment with casual sex and a live-in, but did so in a ludicrous manner that made it a fun watch, but not one that every couple could relate to. From the trailer of OK Jaanu, it seems to be a more refined version of Befikre – focusing less on the ostensibly skittish nature of young people to hop from one casual relationship to the next and instead honing in on the problems of serial monogamy. After living together, we see that Aditya and Shraddha’s characters have become used to each other and must decide whether they want to go their separate ways after all.
From this first glimpse of the film, it seems like the lead’s relationship has the ups and downs of any couple, but thankfully no melodrama. Unlike Befikre, where from the get-go, you knew that the pair was going to get hitched at the end, we’re unsure whether Shraddha and Aditya, who’s chemistry is undeniable, will do the same. The trailer’s romantic background score is all set to become a favorite with couples – we predict continuous replays on next year’s Valentine’s Day. So far, the trailer has got us intrigued and we can’t wait for its release next year on January 13.
