OG Box Office Collection Day 5: They Call Him OG, starring Pawan Kalyan in the lead role, has taken the box office by storm since its release last Thursday. Directed by Sujeeth and co-starring Emraan Hashmi, the film has created a record-breaking history but the movie saw an unexpected dip at the box office on Monday.

The film, which opened on Thursday with a massive Rs 63.75 crore, the highest single-day figure so far, maintained the box office collection across its first weekend. On Friday (Day 2), it earned Rs 18.45 crore, while both Saturday (Day 3) and Sunday (Day 4) saw a steady Rs 18.50 crore each. However, Monday (Day 5) saw an unexpected dip of 60 per cent as collections dipped to just Rs 7.5 crore.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, They Call Him OG has collected Rs 147.7 crore at the domestic box office in its first five days, inching closer to the Rs 150 crore milestone.

Globally, the box office collections are strong as the film has already crossed the Rs 200 crore mark worldwide, making it Pawan Kalyan’s first-ever movie to achieve this feat. It has also become one of the biggest Indian film openers worldwide.

With an estimated budget of Rs 250 crore, They Call Him OG will need a solid hold in its second weekend to be considered a true box office success.

They Call Him OG: Occupancy trends

The film’s Day 5 Hindi (2D) occupancy rates show a  mixed picture, with morning shows at 5.43 per cent, afternoon at 6.05 per cent, evening at 5.44 per cent, and night shows showing a slight rise to 8.22 per cent. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the major share of domestic revenue continues to come from the Telugu version, followed by the dubbed Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada versions.

In the Hindi market, They Call Him OG is currently outperforming Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound, starring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor, which was recently selected as India’s official entry to the Oscars. However, tougher competition is looming. Starting this Thursday, two new releases, Rishab Shetty’s much-awaited Kantara: Chapter 1 and Shashank Khaitan’s rom-com Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari (starring Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Dhawan) are set to shake up the box office.

Emraan Hashmi’s role as the villain is also a ‘wow’ moment for fans.

The film had already created massive buzz before release, collecting Rs 21 crore from paid previews alone. This strong pre-release momentum led to a thunderous start, but maintaining the hype in the coming days will be tough with upcoming releases.
