TV series Chandrakanta is set to make its return to television. For anyone who was alive in the 1990s, you probably remember its theme song quite well and along with the twists and turns of the beloved mythological drama. Now, you can revisit that part of your life on two separate channels and watch 2 totally different versions. It will make its comeback on Life OK and Colors, which are making a new-age remake of the show. The show on Life OK will be produced by Nikhil Sinha, who had previously brought the popular series Siya Ke Ram to life, while the Colors show will be under the Balaji Telefilms banner.
Of course, the news may be great for audiences, but the TV channels are going head to head with the same serial. Both even released their shows’ promos on the same day, a few hours apart. Life OK told Indian Express, “We released our promo last Friday morning. After that, Colors put out theirs in the evening. Ours was a proper trailer, but theirs looked a little sketchy. So, it is obvious they did out of competition.” Their promo, a 14-second clip, showed a woman, probably Princess Chandrakanta, who has her back turned to the viewers. Colors’ promo was a 10-second shot of arrows flying. Whichever series wins out in the end, we’re just glad to have this blast from the past.
