About Amitabh Bachchan’s bungalow Prateeksha

Prateeksha was the first property Amitabh Bachchan purchased in Mumbai in 1976 after the blockbuster success of Sholay. In case you didn’t know, director Ramesh Sippy had initially gifted the bungalow to Bachchan to celebrate the film’s massive success.

Both Shweta Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan were born in this house. The bungalow was named Prateeksha by Amitabh’s father, legendary poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan. Recently, Amitabh Bachchan gifted Prateeksha to his daughter Shweta Bachchan. According to Money Control, the property, valued at over Rs 50 crore, was transferred through a formal gift deed, for which Rs 50.65 lakh was paid as stamp duty.

Apart from Prateeksha, the superstar also owns two other bungalows in Mumbai’s Juhu area, namely Jalsa and Janak. While Jalsa serves as the primary family residence, Janak is the house where business meetings are held in the actors’ personal offices. Among the three, however, Prateeksha remains special as the first home where Amitabh Bachchan lived with his parents.
