It’s finally happened. The years-long wait for the new Wolverine game has finally come to an end, and Marvel fans can finally rest easy after the new trailer for the highly anticipated Wolverine game was released by PlayStation. The game, a collaboration between Marvel Games and Insomniac Games is set for a fall 2026 release on PS5 and the brief synopsis for it reads as follows:
“As he searches for answers about his past, Wolverine will do whatever it takes – unleashing brutal claw combat, violent rage, and relentless determination – to cut through the mystery of the man he used to be.”
Wolverine set to grace the screens once more
The trailer follows Logan aka Wolverine the “iconic, disgruntled claw-cladded mutant” as he slashes his way through enemies guts, ice and rocky terrain trying to uncover his past. With features from other X-men regulars such as Mystique, Omega Red and Sentinels, the game is Sony’s big fall blockbuster. It is rated 17+ and the age restriction is well earned because with the sharp clawed protagonist, it was never going to be family friendly. Featuring heavy gore and graphic fight sequences, the game employs next gen blood tech with fluid, fast and violent combat for a truly thrilling experience.

The game is set in the same verse as Insomniac Studios’ Spider-man so it is highly likely that gamers might get to see familiar faces come fall 2026. Australian actor Liam McIntyre, known for his television roles on shows like Spartacus and the Flash is set to take the stage as Wolverine. He does a terrific job in portraying the foul-mouthed and raspy-voiced character as is evident from the trailer.
A violent yet nuanced experience
The journey will take Logan across several international locations, from the wilderness of Canada to the fictional island principality of Madripoor created by Marvel. Insomniacs’ Aaron Jason Espinoza writes for the Playstation blog, “Wolverine might be distant, but he isn’t afraid to get up-close and personal when it counts.” Fans can hope for a violently graphic gameplay full of carnage and bloodshed with a nuanced and complex storyline.
More information is set to come in spring 2026 so stay tuned!
